What happens
on the first day of camp? You're excited. You're scared. Your stomach has butterflies and your
head is swamped with questions. Will I make a friend? What cabin will I be in? Who will be my counselors? When do I get to
pick my activities? When do we eat?!? Wow! You
sound just like the rest of our Cub Creek campers! When
you arrive at camp you will find out the name of your counselors and your
cabin. Your counselor will be waiting for you at your cabin and help
your unpack. After everyone has arrived, you and your cabin group
will take a tour of camp and play some fun group games, to help you get
to know one another and learn each other's names. All cabin groups
will get together just before dinner to meet the director and find out
about all the fun activities planned for the week. After dinner
everyone will meet at the pool for swim tests and free swim. We will also
have games under the main pavilion. How is the food? GREAT! We have lots of choices so
there is always sure to be something that you like. For breakfast
we have cereal, juice, fruit, yogurt and something hot, like eggs and bacon,
French toast, waffles, or pancakes. Lunch is usually sandwiches,
hamburgers or hot dogs with chips, fruits, drink and dessert. Dinner
is everyone's favorite. The main entree may be fried chicken, spaghetti,
or pizza. We have a salad bar with fruit, Jell-O etc. available
at dinner.
What type of activities are at camp? Our activities are
what makes Cub Creek Science Camp so special. Check out this link
to our activity page.
Unlike other camps that assign cabin groups to activities, at Cub Creek
Science Camp, YOU choose what activities you will take. With more than 65 activity
choices you will always be doing something you like. All the activities
are lots of fun and you will take something home with you from almost every
activity that you do.
What if I don't know anyone at camp? A lot of campers don't
know anyone when they first arrive. But don't worry, that won't last
long. The first day at camp is spent learning all about the other
campers in your cabin and in camp. By dinner on the first day you
will know lots of people. What will I need to bring with me to
camp? After you register for camp, we will send you a list of items to
bring. Briefly, you will need to bring one week's worth of clothes,
swimming suit, towel, toiletries and bedding.
Who are the counselors? Our counselors are college age
people who love the outdoors and kids. They are all great at having
fun and are eager to have you come to camp. Counselors will become your good friends. They will help you meet new friends, complete projects
and even learn fascinating new things. Every cabin has at least three counselors.
What if I still have questions? You can always
send the director an e-mail. I love hearing from campers and your
question may be added to this section for other campers who may be wondering
the exact same thing. You may also want to check out the
parent information
section, for more questions and answers.
